High Level Description

In a cross disciplinary project including product development & sustainability, collaboration between Knightec and Hydroscand offer a unique thesis opportunity.

Goal is to identify how to improve sustainability through product development and life cycle assessments.

Based on Hydroscands products with the support from Knightec, you will work on developing a solution with focus on life cycle management and closing the loop of materials to avoid dependance on virgin materials. Potential areas to investigate are second life, repair, re-build & reused raw material but we are open to more suggestions.

Project Description 

First steps would be to:

• Formulate challenges, scope and plan with Knightec and Hydroscand.
• Understand products and challenges in context to gather insights, in relation of meeting Hydroscand branches, waste management partners and more.

After the challenges and insights are gathered, suggested next step would be to analyze and synthesize findings into conclusions and solution direction.

• Investigation of success factors and solution-based challenges.
• What value does the solution have to deliver for different stakeholders such as, end-user, waste management partner or Hydroscand?

With all the information and analysis investigated within chosen direction, final step would be to move towards creating solution concepts and report delivery.

• Visualizing how the solution would work if implemented now versus future setup.
• Evaluate, select and refine.
• Deliver final solution and report.

Who are we looking for?

• M.Fa / M.Sc student in Product development/ Sustainability/ Circular design or equivalent.
• Passion for Product development and Circular design.
• Fluent in Swedish and/or English.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Hybrid or full time on site at Knightec department in Stockholm.
• The thesis project can be published and used in personal portfolio as well as company marketing.

Purpose

The purpose with the project is to investigate possible solutions which focus is towards closing the loop of materials and avoid/reduce input of virgin material. We also expect an analysis and report of the opportunities and risks with such an integration, including a conceptual proposal on implementation. For example, how and when is it feasible to implement such a solution.

You are welcome to apply as a single student or together with a fellow student. If you are to apply together with a co-writer, you need to apply and conduct the test separately. Just make sure to inform us with whom you intend to write together with. In your personal letter (if you are two students, you can submit the same) we welcome you to describe why the project attracts you and why you would be suited for the challenge.
