High level description
Helm charts are used today to define Kubernetes resources in many of our (Knightecs) projects. Defining Helm templates manually can be tedious with little room for syntax errors. The Cloud Development Kit for Kubernetes (cdk8s) is an open-source framework that allows you create Helm charts programmatically instead of withing the yaml manually.

This thesis aims to explore the automation of Helm chart generation using the Cloud Development Kit for Kubernetes (cdk8s), as opposed to the traditional manual approach.
Purpose and Scope
- Evaluate the effectiveness of cdk8s as a tool for automating Helm chart generation compared to traditional manual methods.
- Assess the potential productivity gains and time savings that result from using cdk8s to define Kubernetes resources programmatically.
- Analyze the scalability and maintainability of Kubernetes deployments when using cdk8s to generate Helm charts, particularly for complex applications
- Identify common challenges and limitations of manual Helm chart creation and determine if cdk8s offers a more reliable and error-resistant solution.
- Develop reusable abstractions and best practices for generating Helm charts through cdk8s to streamline the Kubernetes application deployment process for developers.
